چکیده

Using a hydrodynamic lattice-gas model, we study interface growth in a binary fluid with various concentrations of surfactant. We find that the interface is smoothed by small concentrations of surfactant, while microemulsion droplets form for large surfactant concentrations. To assist in determining the stability limits of the interface, we calculate the change in the roughness and growth exponents a and b as a function of surfactant concentration along the interface. A three-dimensional lattice gas model for amphiphilic fluid dynamics

We describe a three-dimensional hydrodynamic lattice-gas model of amphiphilic fluids. This model of the non-equilibrium properties of oil-water-surfactant systems, which is a non-trivial extension of an earlier two-dimensional realisation due to Boghosian, Coveney and Emerton [2], can be studied effectively only when it is implemented using high-performance computing and visualisation technique...

Hydrodynamic investigation of multiple rising bubbles using lattice Boltzmann method

Hydrodynamics of multiple rising bubbles as a fundamental two-phase phenomenon is studied numerically by lattice Boltzmann method and using Lee two-phase model. Lee model based on Cahn-Hilliard diffuse interface approach uses potential form of intermolecular forces and isotropic finite difference discretization. This approach is able to avoid parasitic currents and leads to a stable procedure t...

A Lattice Boltzmann Model of Ternary Fluid Mixtures

– A lattice Boltzmann model is introduced which simulates oil–water–surfactant mixtures. The model is based on a Ginzburg-Landau free energy with two scalar order parameters. Diffusive and hydrodynamic transport is included. Results are presented showing how the surfactant diffuses to the oil–water interfaces thus lowering the surface tension and leading to spontaneous emulsification. The rate ...

Two-dimensional hydrodynamic lattice-gas simulations of binary immiscible and ternary amphiphilic fluid flow through porous media

The behavior of two-dimensional binary and ternary amphiphilic fluids under flow conditions is investigated using a hydrodynamic lattice-gas model. After the validation of the model in simple cases (Poiseuille flow, Darcy's law for single component fluids), attention is focused on the properties of binary immiscible fluids in porous media. An extension of Darcy's law which explicitly admits a v...

Interface dynamics of immiscible two-phase lattice-gas cellular automata: a model with random dynamic scatterers and quenched disorder in two dimensions.

We use a lattice gas cellular automata model in the presence of random dynamic scattering sites and quenched disorder in the two-phase immiscible model with the aim of producing an interface dynamics similar to that observed in Hele-Shaw cells. The dynamics of the interface is studied as one fluid displaces the other in a clean lattice and in a lattice with quenched disorder. For the clean syst...
